Ableton and Serato – The Bridge Announced
Jan 21st
Ableton and Serato present The Bridge—the first result of the partnership announced in October 2008.
The Bridge spans the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live or ITCH. The Bridge provides a powerful fusion of DJ and production tools, opening a world of opportunities for DJing, remixing and live performance.
You can cross the Bridge in either direction. either from Serato to Ableton, or vice versa. Here’s the link to see more.

“For DJs who don’t make beats yet, that turns into ‘Hey, I can make beats in here, too.’ For the guys who are beatmakers already as well as DJs, it’s great because it’s almost like you’re DJing with multitracks. And the mixtape feature was probably the best thing I’ve ever seen. People are going to get really creative, I know my brain is working already, there’s stuff that I’m going to do that I choose not to disclose right now because it’s top secret.”

“My initial reaction? I was absolutely elated. As with most DJs that are Ableton friendly, a lot of us have been utilizing Ableton’s warping to quantize and straighten out records that otherwise fluctuate. Now that we have the opportunity to play with the actual files… and use them in DJ gigs and live shows, the possibilities are absolutely 100% endless. Being as I just saw [The Bridge], my mind is racing with endless ideas…”

“Seeing where Ableton is at, this state of technology, and all the stuff that’s in there, and thinking about Ableton and Serato together is mind boggling. I know there’s a lot of stuff that can happen… we’re all producers, we’re all DJs, your mind starts to wonder what’s coming. Everybody’s gonna get excited.”
Konvict Benny D launches new fan site
Dec 6th
In the spirit of DJ entrepreneurship and community building, worldwide wild child DJ Benny D (of Akon tour fame) has launched his own site, and aptly called it a fan site – see it now at www.djbennydfansite.tv.
In a quick catch up with the man himself, who took a moment from his gruelling global tour schedule to share his plans with me on IM, Benny gave me a quick birds eye vision for the site.

“I had to build a Fansite for Benny-D. because my popularity as a DJ on stage with AKON, as a Producer for Akon, Rock City, Sunny Valentine, Tabi Bonney and more got more recognition
My web designer, Cheavor Duggins, who is also from the Virgin Islands like myself, stepped to me about creating such a site for all my Fans around the world
We started out with less than 100 fans knowing about it and then Eventually it rose to over 5k and 6k viewers per day. It’s full of content like Music, Videos i’ve been in, ppl i’ve worked with, places i’ve been to, Tour Schedules, Bio and more”.
Once again the link is www.djbennydfansite.tv. We applaud DJs taking the initiative to stay grinding, like Benny and Jay-Z’s DJ, Neil Armstrong who we interviewed on video here. It shows that no matter how big you are, your ability to connect with the crowd, off line or online, is your biggest asset. Take note DJs of all sizes. BONUS: Benny’s ‘All About The Shotta Dem’ Music Video.

DJ Hero First Review
Sep 8th
We went to the DJ Hero launch party with The Scratch Perverts and here’s what we thought…
Jermaine Dupri and Greg Street Kiss and Make Up
Sep 1st
Is Jermaine getting shorter? I swear the mic, glasses and hat probably weigh three times JD’s whole body mass. And is this at the So So Def office? Shit, I thought that they would’ve made the table legs shorter or got this dude a booster seat.
In my opinion, this was a good idea, but poorly executed. Both guys just ramble about some generic state of DJ’ing BS in this clip. The reality is, Greg can still be respected, JD should never be slept on, and furniture designers could make a fortune in Atlanta.
Yay – Premo uses the same mac book as lovesoul

Is Zane Lowe The New John Peel?
Aug 20th
Absolutely yes – he played one of my favourite records yesterday and handled the editorial bit around it so well, I just had to get to my computer and do this… P.S. here is the original P Money post that I spoke of in the video.
