Here we go, the full version of last Tuesday’s big music and social media panel, chaired by yours truly, in the heart of London town, with a great set of speakers. An abridged version on the way soon for your shortformers. Put your thinking cap on… now…
Social Media Week is a cool series of networking / thought-leadership events that take place in London, New York, San Francisco, Sao Paolo, Toronto and Berlin in the first week of February. I have been asked to chair the music industry event, with some great people I respect. We’ll be covering topics such as the impact of social networking on music, and how the business has changed, as well as what can be done to stay ahead of the curve. All the info on the questions we’ll be asking, as well the registration info is here. Hope you can make it.
Last Friday night, Vik and I were invited to witness Jay Sean and Birdman blow most new artists whole album budget on one party. London hasn’t seen anything like this for a long time. Guests included Birdman and Slim of Cash Money, Rihanna, Ice-T, Alesha Dixon, Manny Norte, Reggie Yates (with Jay-Z wardrobe in tow), Craig David and many more.
Very big event for the UK music industry, indie artists, and for south Asian artists. This guy is in unchartered territory and scouring the landscape very well. Jay Sean’s album ‘All or Nothing’ is out now. Purchase links are at www.JaySean.com. Props to Kodak for the Zi8 cameras we used.
We caught up with Grammy Award Winning Pioneer Female DJ, Spinderella. She drops the knowledge on having classic songs, supporting other DJ’s and the Salt N Pepa reunion album and tour.
We were headlining at their show, and could tell by the set up we’d see something interesting. Shame the tape ran out but we’re glad we got to tape the guys in action, even though the crowd were moving us around like crazy.
Cool little mini documentary of the journey for dancers making their way to the final cut for Michael Jackson’s upcoming 50 date ‘This Is It’ tour in the UK. It’s a little bit ‘American’ (sappy, over-emotional, Apprentice like editing), but you can see these guys are really doing their best to put together a big show for a global audience.
