Lovesoul.TV Interview Sway [Akons UK Signing] and the 'F UR X' Video

Recently we caught up with UK hip-hop MC Sway, the latest signing to Akon’s label Konvict Music [or maybe Konlive as we reported here] and all around nice guy. This is our second time meeting Sway, the first was backstage at the 02 Wireless Festival a couple of years back. His career has come leaps and bounds, and just weeks away from his next smash ‘F UR X’ ft $tush being released (July 16th 2008, get your advance), we caught up with the grand ghanian to talk about some huge collaborations with Akon and Madness, being romantically linked to Estelle and a slew of deaths that almost made him quit rapping

If you can’t see the above video, watch it in YouTube quality here. Otherwise, check the new video for ‘F UR X’ below, or buy the single here.

As always, we welcome your comments below!

Kardinal Offishall ft. Akon – 'Dangerous' Music Video

Canada’s living legend and long time friend of Lovesoul has finally released the video for Dangerous, featuring his new label boss Akon.  This infectious up-tempo twang laced joint is KILLING the airwaves in London, LA and NYC (trust me, I heard it on 1Xtra, Power 106 and Hot 97 respectively in the last two weeks)

Kardi obviously has threaded in his West Indian ways well into the jam, and has a nice laid back chemistry with Akon both on the track and in the video.  (P.S. you KNOW that’s a Toronto girl in the video, they don’t make em like that ANYWHERE else, ask Melyssa Ford and Lil’ X).  I hope this track charts in the UK and worldwide because it’s a much needed summer jam from the head of the Black Jays.

Estelle's 'American Boy' goes to No. 1, Akon Signs UK Rapper Sway

Firstly, well done to our girl Estelle for getting American Boy to number one in the UK charts! I feel compelled to repost the video as it’s a landmark in UK/US hip-hop collaborations.

BUT it doesn’t end there, as at last weekend’s 1Xtra Live show in Coventry, Akon brought out UK rapper Sway, to announce his signing to Akon’s Konvict Music (though technically it may be called Konlive, ahem… tax man). Here is the exclusive audio, with a very annoying ‘i wish I was as famous as Akon so i’ll keep Ad-Libbing him‘ support DJ. Also, Akon, looses his grip of English a little, but we like him so it’s ok.

And watch out for Sway’s new single, F ur X, featuring $tush, which you can buy now at super hi-quality from Digital. Support Sway by visiting his MySpace and get some free mixtape downloads.

Happy New Year Lovesoul TV readers; Skillz Rap Up of 2007

Firstly HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the lovesoul.TV readers, thank you for helping us run up well over 4500 hits in no time…we have new writers on the site and more content every week. Also big shout to all those who came out to see us DJ over Xmas and NYE in London.

Every year, Jazzy Jeff’s tour MC and all round underground legend, Skillz, does an end of year rap-up. He basically raps about stories that made the urban news in 2007 and it’s always good for a laugh. This year he mentions Akon dry humping kids on stage, Jay-Z sale of Roc-A-Wear, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce falling on stage, 50 and Kanye’s Album sales battle, Lil Wayne being on every record, Usher getting married, DJ Drama getting raided, Camron generally being ass, ringtone rappers like Soulja Boy, Amy Winehouse, Bobby Brown and Whitney, Rihanna (looking NASTY crossdressed), iPhone, Foxy Brown, T-Pain (getting his ass handed to him) and a whole bunch of other crazyness.

He’s got a couple of the clowns from Wild ‘N’ Out in there who make it MUCH funnier than just the song, and the clips help a lot, hopefully he’ll get some TV from it (take note MTV Base and Channel U). Still it’s not as funny as previous years, the beat is too boring and simple, and too many multiple references to 50, Akon, etc… I think he should invite rappers on some official remixes. Still if you’ve been listening for years, this is no reason to stop…you like?
