So here is a cool picture of Jay-Z and Beyonce using their Apple MacBooks at the start of 2008. We got on this story VERY late, because the big hoo-haa was that Jay-Z is the HP Notebook poster child [see YouTube clip].
So at this late stage, the only thing fun left to do is come up with witty slogans… here’s mine…
The Apple MacBook… giving Jay-Z the porn he needs to cope with manogamy since 2008.
Now we need your’s in the comments boxes below. Have a great Wednesday.
So as soon as I get too busy to write on here for a week, what happens? Only one of my favourite rappers ever dominating the news from every angle. So I had to summarise it uber-fast:
- Jay-Z is rumoured to have married Beyonce last weekend in his New York apartment. At this stage it’s very very likely, with statements from Matthew Knowles, who is Beyonce’s father, manager, life coach, accountant, caterer and probably body double (somehow). Anyway, they both have the number IV (4 in roman numerals if you missed days at school), tattooed on their wedding fingers (married April 4th, Jay bday Dec 4th, B’s bday Sept 4th), so as far as I’m concerned, they’re married, done and dusted, let’s put that to bed and play ‘Big Pimpin’ the same way we play ‘California Love’ and ‘Hypnotise’…
- Young H-O has signed a $150 million dollar deal with Live Nation, to form Roc Nation. I’m going to go on record today and coin a term that no-one else will probably ever copy, and that’s a ’2.0 PA Deal’. A PA is a performing artist, who used to make a whole bunch of money from record sales, as well as less commonly noted emphasis on tours, merchandise, endorsements, etc. Most labels are pissed off that they pay an advanced sum for an artist’s album, video’s, distribution and promotion to get the record into the market, but declining CD sales don’t get that advance paid back (like defaulting on a loan, or a company paying for a bakers shop and ingredients, but all customers steal the bread, i.e. illegal downloaders).
Meanwhile, the artist still makes money on all the tours, merchandise and endorsement money (kind of like the baker getting to keep the money from unstealable cakes behind the counter, because real live music experiences cannot be downloaded). Whilst slower companies like EMI choose to fire everyone to keep business costs down, clever companies like Live Nation, that tour artists globally everyday, are putting up huge money for artists records, in return for a slice of the whole pie that the artist generates (record sales, tours, merch…you get the idea?) You can see a breakdown of this deal here.
- Apparently, Shawn Carter has pulled out of Glastonbury and is now heading up the bill at the 02 Wireless Festival [see link for 02 event]. Michael Eavis, whom I have spoken with previously, denies these claims even though apparently only 100,000 of the 140,000 tickets have been sold. Now ask any Kaiser Chief loving white-guy, Glastonbury fills out faster than a free crack parade. Rumours are that the back lash from Kaiser Chief loving white-guys about Jay-Z not being relavent to the festival has turned Jay-Z off, and that he feels pawned to bring in the urban spender. More info as it comes to light. Personally, f- Glastonbury, if I want to go see a hip-hop act, I don’t want to be rolling around in mud while a guy who’s just caked $150 million dollars raps about Maybach’s. P.S. The 02 Wireless Festival is brought to you by Live Nation…ahem. [Link].
Firstly HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the lovesoul.TV readers, thank you for helping us run up well over 4500 hits in no time…we have new writers on the site and more content every week. Also big shout to all those who came out to see us DJ over Xmas and NYE in London.
Every year, Jazzy Jeff’s tour MC and all round underground legend, Skillz, does an end of year rap-up. He basically raps about stories that made the urban news in 2007 and it’s always good for a laugh. This year he mentions Akon dry humping kids on stage, Jay-Z sale of Roc-A-Wear, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce falling on stage, 50 and Kanye’s Album sales battle, Lil Wayne being on every record, Usher getting married, DJ Drama getting raided, Camron generally being ass, ringtone rappers like Soulja Boy, Amy Winehouse, Bobby Brown and Whitney, Rihanna (looking NASTY crossdressed), iPhone, Foxy Brown, T-Pain (getting his ass handed to him) and a whole bunch of other crazyness.
He’s got a couple of the clowns from Wild ‘N’ Out in there who make it MUCH funnier than just the song, and the clips help a lot, hopefully he’ll get some TV from it (take note MTV Base and Channel U). Still it’s not as funny as previous years, the beat is too boring and simple, and too many multiple references to 50, Akon, etc… I think he should invite rappers on some official remixes. Still if you’ve been listening for years, this is no reason to stop…you like?
Big shout to HipHopDx for putting together the interesting categories
