Russell Peters Scores Book Deal

What do you do when you’ve proven your talent at the world’s biggest venues, sold DVD’s galore and booked every major talk show (except you Jonathon Ross, get it addressed). You release a book. Here’s some of the press release, the full version is after the jump.
(Toronto) Wednesday, November 18, 2009 – Just announced Doubleday Canada has acquired the rights to a new book from international comedy star Russell Peters. The yet-untitled book will be published in Fall, 2010.
“Russell Peters is the biggest comedy talent in the world,” says Brad Martin, President and CEO of Random House of Canada Limited. “His fans around the globe are going to make this book a major publishing event.”
Jay-Z Nominated for Best Solo Artist at 2009 NME Awards

Looks like Jay-Z PR jihad on the UK in 2008 has worked a treat. Young Hov has managed to get a nomination at this years NME Awards according to Music Week and an IM by Vik Lovesoul.

NME is a heavily rock and indie orientated magazine with a yearly award show. However, the God MC’s headlining of Glastonbury (like a yearly woodstock full of indie kids that don’t save money and eat ramen noodles), and appearances at Coldplay’s BBC Live Session, Friday Night with Jonathon Ross, BBC documentary, hanging out with Ricky Gervais (the list goes on) has obviously got him in with the guitar crowd. Oasis got 7 nominations FYI. Let’s see how it goes. I think for the most part, hip-hop will acknowledge this, but it’s not a make or break for Sean Carter or Hip-Hop. Just a bit of icing on a cake the size of Luxemburg.
Other non-traditional nominees include Dizzee Razcal (Best Dancefloor Filler) and Barack Obama (Hero of the Year). You can see they covered one end of the spectrum, and the other.
