Ryan Leslie: How It Was Supposed To Be [Video]

This guy could be the paradigm shift to RnB that Kanye was to Hip-Hop.  I definitely feel his sense of ego in the videos he floods the internets with – BUT the guy makes hits.  Genuine, head nodding, dance in the club type hits.  In 2009 this guy will cross over from taste-makers choice to mainstream star.

Lovesoul.TV: Ryan Leslie – Diamond Girl Video

Ryan is back on form and doing his thing. After a huge web and radio buzz, including an infamous re-work by 50 Cent, Ryan Leslie has put out the video to Diamond Girl. What’s super-interesting is that I got this video from Ryan’s own YouTube Channel, and he used his video description area to really expose the video treatment as it should’ve been, and how it ended up.

Some excerpts from the YouTube channel posting, Ryan state’s:

“As I posted in my previous video, I had a huge vision for this video to feel like a live television performance that gave tribute to a James Brown piece I saw on the Ed Sullivan show.
…My label disagreed.”

“When I got to LA to shoot, the entire set was modern and a piece of me died. My vision was compromised. Rather than be an ungrateful artist, I stayed and gave my best performance.”

“The lesson I learned here is that when you have a strong creative vision – do everything in your power to see it through. I am very thankful that I have a video on TV.”
