P.Diddy and Usher on the X Factor…really?
Aug 21st
Sorry, P.Diddy, Usher and a hint of Rick Astley… This is the UK’s X Factor reducing me to tears (laughing)…

Usher – New 'Moving Mountains' Video – looks expensive
May 22nd
Wow, looks like SOMEONE saved up their Christmas money between albums and bought themselves an expensive video shoot. Watch as Usher leaves the ‘Make Love in this Club’ video, and transitions onto some dreary mountin, which he climbs like a black Frodo Baggins [ref].
It’s a bloody annoying video, I don’t know if it will stick, and NO dude who’s Mother managed him most of his adult life would be allowed to climb a rainy snowy mountin in a T-shirt, even if it is black and therefore traditionally heat retaining.
I like the references to the great depression, and the hurricane in the first verse, that’s clever. But I was like ‘Dude, stop wailing man, I just want to hear some good music and eat a Kit-Kat’. All this time his singing ‘Just leeeeeeave me, just leeeeeeeeeave me..!” – I guarantee that by the second verse, you’ll have called every ex in your phone book, and be well on the way to a listing on the local stalkers list. Still, at least at the end of this video, he’s on top of a very narrow mountain. A third video in this series would have to be a song about abseiling…so it’s likely to end here.
Here’s a marginally better version, live at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
Blogger pisses off Jermaine Dupri over Usher and Billboard Mag Cover
May 15th
Wow, this one really threw me. Gyant, blogger extraordinaire and reporter for the huge hip-hop website, SOHH.com, got his ass handed to him IN VIDEO by massive music mogal and producer Jermaine Dupri. JD, responsible for literally every fifth record that gets played in an RnB club for the last 15 years, and a key guy in shaping Usher’s career, was very pissed off at Billboard magazine for having Usher share a cover with Danja (Timbaland’s protege, producer of ‘Gimme More’ for Brittney Spears). Here’s how that started:
Gyant made some comments which asked Dupri to “Stay out of grown folks business”. As a blogger, I am always conscious of how comments can be misconstrued, and Gyant is quick to set the record straight in his update [link], where he maturely shares this second video.
Although it’s really an unfortunate series of events, that’s worth putting behind us now, what did impress me was a) the ability of a bloggers comments to cause such a huge rattle in JD’s cage, and b) JD’s ability to take time out and read important sites like SOHH.com (and eventually lovesoul.TV). Most exec’s love the exec life too much to pay attension to the streets and the web (the latter being the new streets to a certain extent). Anyway, Jermaine remains vocal, and probably could’ve done without comparing the status of Usher to Danja as comparable to Grand Theft Auto 4 and Donkey Kong…Gyant feel free to blog on that, I got your back.
Lovesoul.TV: Usher 'Love in this Club' Video
Apr 10th
And so Usher’s first single, ‘Love in this Club’, from the new album ‘Here I Stand’ is finally out.
I just heard Max from 1Xtra say that apparently Usher’s new bride isn’t too keen on the sexual chemistry between Usher and Keri Hilson (singer from Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’). I personally don’t see it on the pixelated BS quality that YouTube is publishing video’s with at the moment, but if you look closely, you will be able to see cameo’s from Puffy (Diddy if you’re under 23), Kanye West, Polow Da Don and of course the thoughtful, intellectual, Obama inspired raps of Young Jeezy. What do you think of the video?
